  • John has received a Career Initiative Grant from the Loft Literary Center to promote his book in Cooperstown, New York, during the National Baseball Hall of Fame's Induction Weekend in July.
     

  • John's new book, Hammerin' Hank, George Almighty and the Say Hey Kid: The Year that Changed Baseball Forever, which chronicles the watershed 1973 Major League Baseball season, was released in April 2008 by Sourcebooks.

  • John's book, Big Book Unplugged, which is a guide to the text of Alcoholics Anonymous, has been translated into Spanish and distributed in Mexico.
